Why is prayer so powerful for the believer? There are many reasons. I’d like to share three.
First, God commands us to pray to Him. Prayer is how you communicate with God. It shows that you have faith or confidence in God’s word. Jesus said in Matthew 6:6:
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Second, God cannot release His power on earth unless a righteous man or woman prays to Him, because He has given man jurisdiction of the earth. James 5:16 says:
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Finally, prayer is where you fellowship and commune with Almighty God in spirit and in truth. It’s where you encounter His supernatural Presence that saves, heals, delivers and transforms you into the image of Christ Jesus. It’s in His Presence that you find everything you need.
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)
These are just a few reasons prayer is so powerful. Each day that God awakens you, remember to thank and praise, and worship Him in prayer. For it’s in Him that you live and move and have your being.
